One less thing on your list

Home Malone was set up by Tom and Ella. We started Home Malone because we think getting help around the house should feel straightforward and comfortable. You should not need to know the right terminology, work out exactly which trade you need or feel embarrassed because you have had a go at something yourself and it has not quite worked out.

Tom's background is in holistic eco-building, working on projects from the very first stages of a build right through to the final coat of paint. Rather than specialising in one trade, he has spent years learning how a whole house fits together and how one job can affect another.

That has meant getting hands-on with everything from groundwork, roofing, windows, airtightness and insulation to pipework, radiators, sockets and lighting. He has fitted kitchens, sinks and toilets, laid flooring, tiled, plasterboarded, fitted skirting and coving, built cupboards, repaired gutters and external masonry, decorated inside and out, and taken care of plenty of those awkward jobs that do not fit neatly into one trade.

That broader way of working is a big part of Home Malone. It means Tom can look at the whole job, rather than just one part of it, and work out the most practical way to get things sorted.

We also know that not everyone knows the nuts and bolts of how a home is put together - and you shouldn't have to. Just tell us what needs doing, send a few photos if you can, and we will help work out the best way to tackle it.

And if the DIY has gone a little sideways, that is fine too. Tom gets plenty of practice rescuing Ella's DIY attempts.

More than anything, we want Home Malone to feel like someone you are comfortable having in your home, asking questions of and calling when something needs sorting.
